Alum‑Brite is a powerful acid‑based commercial aluminum cleaner and brightener formulated for heavy‑duty fleet, trailer, and industrial equipment washing where a bright, raw‑aluminum finish is the goal. It cuts through oxidation, scale, road film, and embedded grime on unpolished aluminum surfaces so you can restore a cleaner, brighter look without sanding or mechanical polishing. This 55‑gallon drum format is built for high‑volume truck washes, fleet yards, and industrial wash bays that need consistent, repeatable results.

What Makes Alum‑Brite Different

Many aluminum cleaners either lack the strength to handle heavy oxidation or are so aggressive they are difficult to control in real‑world wash bays. Alum‑Brite is a concentrated, commercial‑grade acid cleaner specifically tuned for unpolished aluminum, giving you strong bite on oxidation and scale while remaining predictable and repeatable when used at proper dilutions.

It is designed to be used as a pre‑soak and aluminum brightener in professional truck and fleet washes, slotting perfectly into workflows where trucks, trailers, and equipment need deep cleaning before more detailed finishing steps. With recommended dilution ranges for different tasks, your team can dial it in for pre‑soak, wheels, and aluminum walls without guessing.

  1. Verify that all surfaces to be cleaned are unpolished aluminum and that nearby glass and polished metals are protected.
  2. Working on cool surfaces, apply the solution from the bottom up to ensure even coverage.
  3. Allow a short dwell time while the product attacks oxidation, scale, and grime—do not let it dry on the surface.
  4. Neutralize Alum-Brite with a high pH Step 2.
  5. Rinse thoroughly with plenty of fresh, preferably softened, water from top to bottom until all product and residue are removed.
  6. Inspect the surface; repeat the process only where stubborn oxidation or staining remains.
  7. Follow with your normal wash process or finishing steps as needed within your commercial wash workflow.

Equipment & Setup Recommendations

Alum‑Brite is built for commercial and industrial environments and should be used only with equipment and safety practices designed for strong acids.

  • Chemical‑resistant sprayers, pumps, and lines capable of handling acid‑based cleaners.
  • Proportioners or downstream injection systems that can consistently deliver the recommended dilution ratios.
  • Softened water supply where possible for best performance and rinsing.
  • Appropriate PPE including acid‑resistant gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing per SDS guidance.

Why You Need Alum‑Brite

  • Delivers heavy‑duty acid cleaning power to remove oxidation, scale, brake dust, and stubborn road film from unpolished aluminum.
  • Brightens and refreshes aluminum truck bodies, trailers, rims, fuel tanks, and equipment without mechanical sanding or polishing.
  • Designed specifically for commercial and industrial use, making it ideal for fleet washes, truck washes, and heavy equipment facilities.
  • Functions as an effective truck wash pre‑soak and aluminum brightener within a high‑volume wash workflow.
  • Offers flexible dilution ranges for pre‑soak, wheels, and aluminum walls so operators can match strength to the job.
  • Helps restore a cleaner, brighter aluminum appearance ahead of finer finishing steps or protective treatments.
  • Concentrated formula in a 55‑gallon drum provides strong cost‑per‑use value for large operations.
  • Clearly defined limitations—not for polished aluminum, not for use on glass stronger than 1:60—help protect sensitive surfaces when directions are followed.

Alum-Brite FAQs

Can I use Alum-Brite on polished aluminum?

No. Alum-Brite is made for unpolished aluminum only. For polished aluminum, use Polished Aluminum Cleaner or a polish-safe 2-step.

Does Alum-Brite need to be neutralized?

Yes. Follow it with a high pH Step 2, then rinse thoroughly, preferably with softened water.

Is Alum-Brite acid-free or HF-free?

No. It contains sulfuric and hydrofluoric acid. Read the SDS and wear the required protective equipment.

What is the difference between Alum-Brite and Alum-Brite Lite?

Alum-Brite is a concentrate you pre-mix at 9%. Alum-Brite Lite comes pre-diluted and ready to use.

How drum & tote freight works

  • Ships by LTL truck freight from Michigan. 55 gallon drums and 275 gallon totes go out on a freight truck, not by parcel.
  • Get a live estimate on this page. In the freight estimator, choose a commercial address with a dock or forklift, a residential address or no dock (liftgate needed), or pickup at your local freight terminal. Then enter your ZIP code and state.
  • Your estimate is saved with your order. When you add to cart, the quote is added to your order notes. Estimates aren’t final, and final freight charges may vary.
  • Hazmat status: Ships as a DOT-regulated corrosive (UN 2922, Class 8, subsidiary 6.1) per SDS Section 14.
  • Order the right chemistry the first time. We don’t reimburse shipping costs on 5 gallon quantities and larger. If you’re not sure what fits your operation, call us at 616.777.7175 before you order.
